In partnership with Grovo, Capital One has developed a free and open digital literacy program. This course gives everyone access to the digital skills needed for today's middle-skill roles — jobs that don't require a bachelor's degree, but pay above the national living wage.

Bridging the digital skills gap

The digital skills gap is the divide between the digital skills needed for a job, and the skills employees possess.

Capital One and Burning Glass Technologies recently conducted a nationwide analysis of the digital skills gap in the middle-skill job market — which represents 39% of all U.S. jobs. Among the key findings:

7/10 Over 7 in 10 of these jobs require digital skills

Digitally-intensive jobs have grown more than twice as fast as other jobs.

18% Digitally-intensive jobs pay average wages 18% higher than other jobs.

When these tech jobs go unfilled, it's a missed opportunity for low-wage workers who could transform their earnings potential with just a little bit of training.

What's next?

Through Future Edge, Capital One will address the digital skills gap through partnerships, community grants, and support for digital skills training.

Later this year, Grovo's innovative training technology and Future Edge curriculum will be made available to Capital One's nonprofit partners across the country, helping over 5,000 underserved Americans access the skills they need to succeed.
